Scott A. Cassidy-Boerma, age 40 of Holland, formerly of Morley/Big Rapids passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the Hospice House of Holland. Scott was born May 19, 1971 in Grand Rapids. He graduated from Morley - Stanwood in 1991. Scott was always interested in farming and began his working career at numerous dairy farms in the area. He later drove truck for Big Rapids Farm and Garden where he delivered supplies to area farmers for many years. Most recently Scott had moved to Holland, working for Meijers and Gentex Corporation until his health began to fail. He loved to hunt and fish; he was an avid Michigan State fan and Nascar enthusiast. Scott had lost a brief battle to esophageal cancer caused by acid reflux and at too young of an age he was taken from his loving family and friends. He will be forever missed. Scott is survived by his 2 daughters, Kayla and Brittany Cassidy both of Reed City; his parents, Martha and Frank Boerma of Morley; 2 sisters, Tina (Rodger) Sova of Big Rapids, Connie (Ron) Schultz of Morley; a brother, Michael (Tammy) Boerma of LeRoy; 2 nieces, Amber Sova, Megan Schultz; 5 nephews, Matthew and Jeffery Boerma, Brad Schultz, Maverick and Derringer Boerma and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by a brother Jonathan Boerma, maternal grandparents, Bessie and Andy Cassidy and paternal grandparents, Jane and Franklin Boerma Sr. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father Joe Fix officiating. Interment will be at the Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 29th at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Scott's name may be made to Hospice House of Holland or the charity of your choice.
