IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra
Nott
March 31, 1939 – February 4, 2026
Sandra Faye Nott, 86, of Barryton, passed away on February 4, 2026. She was born on March 31, 1939, in Barryton, the daughter of Roger and Elma (Thompson) Redick.
She graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural School with the Class of 1957. While in school she enjoyed Band, FHA and Cheerleading.
On December 26, 1959, she was united in marriage to Joe Nott Jr., and together they shared 66 years of marriage filled with love and devotion.
Sandy embraced many careers and opportunities throughout her life. Immediately after graduation she worked for the State of Michigan in Grand Rapids until her marriage to Joe when they moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where Joe was stationed at Fort Sill. There she was employed by the Ark-Lou Gas Company until returning to Barryton. She then was employed with the State of Michigan again, this time in Mount Pleasant. In 1972 she started work within the Chippewa Hills School District as a Secretary in the Junior High, Barryton Elementary and finally as a Teachers Aide in Preschool. She retired in 1994 and often talked of the camaraderie she had enjoyed with her coworkers and her love of working with the students. She also served as Fork Township Clerk and owned/operated The Hodge Podge Antiques, Nott’s Gun & Tackle and Storage after retirement.
She had a special gift for hospitality and loved entertaining her family and friends, hosting various holiday gatherings and especially looked forward to the 4th of July at Chippewa Lake and cooking for everyone. Sandy loved all animals, from the wildlife she admired to the pets she cherished. Her peace was found in viewing the beauty of nature and she was proud to call Barryton her home.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Nott; son, Jeffery (Marc) Nott; grandson, Joseph Nott; sisters, Tamara (Lonnie) Hanson and Pamela (David) Tucker; along with many nieces and nephews including, Christina (Ed) Shinouskis, Andrea (Mike) White, Gregory (Jason) Hanson, Susan (Will) Conley, Heather (John) Krull and Tasha (Manu) Yektafard and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, James Nott.
A private burial will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Flake Cemetery in Barryton. Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes in Barryton.
Sandy would have liked any memorial contributions to be directed to our local animal shelters or any local charity.
A very grateful Thank You to Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital, The Orchards of Big Rapids and all the doctors, nurses and especially the staff for their expertise, compassion and for always having a smile for Sandy.
