Sandra "Sandy" L. McGee, age 71 of Stanwood, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at her home with family by her side. Sandy was a faith-filled person, born in Grand Rapids to John and Ruth (Clay) Buitendyk on May 12, 1951. Sandy married James E. McGee on January 22, 1972 in Rockford, just before graduating. Together they raised their family in the Grand Rapids area before they settled in Stanwood where they have lived for over 30 years. Sandys greatest passion and love was for her family. She spent much of her time loving and caring for them. She especially looked forward to Sunday dinners with the family when everyone would come and share a meal together. Sandy enjoyed doing puzzles, watching her TV series, and spending time tending to her flower garden and pond. She was also a talented artist, especially drawing and painting. Sandy had a dedicated work ethic, holding various positions at different factories throughout her life. Her loving personality will not be forgotten. Sandy is survived by her husband of 50 years, James E. McGee of Stanwood; ten children, Dawn Tucker of Stanwood, William Tucker of Texas, James II (Amanda) McGee of Stanwood, Sandy McGee of Stanwood, Kassandra McGee of Morley, Troy (Laura) Hayes of Denver, Colorado, William McGee of Howard City, Shane Velting of Stanwood, Jesse McGee of Stanwood, and Nancy McGee of Stanwood; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Deb Tjepkema of Gladstone, Kentucky; many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, John, Roberta, Robert, and Raymond. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Chaplain Elsie Marvin officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
