Sandra "Sandy" A. St. John, age 77 of Lake, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Beaverton on January 23, 1945, the daughter of Charles Hess and Elnora (Bennett) Bates. Sandy was a 1963 graduate of Clare High School. She attended Weidman United Methodist Church and took pride in teaching Sunday School there. She married Garold "Garry" St. John on May 4, 1963, and together they raised their family in Lake in the house they built together. Sandy had many talents, including: quilting, sewing, and photography. Sandy was very organized; she did laundry on the same day of the week, every Saturday she baked, and she wrote on the back of pictures and placed them into photo albums (40 to be exact). Sandy was involved in her grandchildrens lives. She watched them when they were young, planted flower gardens with them, and volunteered in their classrooms. Sandy is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Garry St. John of Lake; four children, Deana (Rich) Gross of Shepherd, Michael (Feng Shi) St. John of Holt, Nancy (Ron Folts) Breidenstein of Alma, and Mark (Andrea) St. John of Lake; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Walter (Sandy) Hess of Black Creek, Wisconsin, Dorothy (Don) Papesh of Clare, and Marty (Jan) Miller of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Daniel St. John, grandson Lyle St. John, and sister Loretta Warner. Private family services will be held.
