Ruth Elizabeth Diehm, age 94 of Remus went home to be with her Lord Monday, April 13, 2009 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. She was born April 5, 1915 in Remus, Michigan to Peter and Bertha (Cook) Diehm. She graduated from Remus High School. Ruth moved to Detroit where she was a comptroller for General Motors. While living in Detroit she was roommates with her sister Frieda and together they attended the former Redeemer and Epiphany Lutheran Churches in Detroit where they were in the choir. In 1976 Ruth retired and moved back to Remus where she was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved singing in the church choir for many years, helping with the Ladies Aide, was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed gardening. Ruth is survived by her two sisters: Frieda L. Manske of Remus and Christina Eldred of Remus, Nephews: James (Karen) Diehm of Remus and Tom (Barbara) Diehm of Remus, Niece: Joanne (David) Brownlee of Tennessee and many Great Nieces and Great Nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and a brother William P. Diehm. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (367 Church St.) in Remus with funeral services beginning at 4:00 p.m. that day. Interment will be at Wambold Cemetery in Remus at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Memorial donations in Ruth's name can be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
