Russell H. Boyd Jr. age 68 of Morley, lost his battle with P.L.S. and C.O.P.D. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. He went to be with the Lord surrounded by his entire family. Russ was born February 17, 1945 in Biloxi, Mississippi the son of Russell H. Sr. and Agnes L. (Goble) Boyd. He graduated from South High School in Grand Rapids. Russ married Jeanette Good on June 10, 1967. He was employed by Steelcase, retiring after 28 years. After trying his hand at blueberry farming, Russ went to work at Hanchett Manufacturing in Big Rapids for six years. Russ loved to tinker in the garage with his father and brother; most recently he had enjoyed Western Movies and NASCAR. Russ was a member of the Big Rapids Assembly of God Church. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanette Boyd of Morley; three children, Kellie (John) Moore of Morley, Karrie (Eric) VanHam of Allendale, Russell H. III (LeeAnn) Boyd of Fremont; eight grandchildren, Autumn, Kaylee and Braden VanHam, Mikayla and Zayne Moore, Mackenzie, Madilyn and Camden Boyd; his parents, Agnes and Russell Boyd Sr. of Virginia; three brothers, Ronald Boyd of Alabama, Richard Sr. (Ellie) Boyd of Virginia, E. Raymond Boyd of Blanchard and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18th at the Big Rapids Assembly of God Church, 14200 Northland Drive, Big Rapids with Pastor Kris Richardson officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday, November 17th at the Big Rapids Assembly of God Church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday at Church.
