Rosemond C. Gawne, age 90 of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007. She was born April 20, 1917 in Standish to Andrew and Mary (Derusha) Scheid. Rosemond made her home in Reed City for many years she then moved to Hawkins for a time and eventually lived in Big Rapids for over 20 years. Rosemond was retired from Wolverine World Wide in Big Rapids. She was a devout catholic and had been a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Reed City, St. Ann Catholic Church near Paris and had attended both St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Paul's Campus Parish in Big Rapids. Following her retirement Rosemond had been a very active volunteer for the Mecosta County R.S.V.P. She is survived by her loving and devoted family whose members include; Her seven children: Richard Gawne of Baldwin Patricia A. (Robert) Moore of Big Rapids Irene (Ronald) Buit of Grandville Barbara (Larry) LeBaron of Gerrardstown, WV Jean (Don) Hitzemann of Big Rapids Gary L. Gawne of Big Rapids Kim (Eddie) Roak of Simpsonville SC 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren 2 brothers: Robert (Mabel) Scheid of Big Rapids Ronald (Judy) Scheid of Mason A sister: Eileen Hagopian of Ann Arbor and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rosemond was preceded in death by 7 brothers; Lawrence, Leonard, Jim, Jerry, Allen, Raymond and Joseph Scheid and 2 sisters; Frances Andres and Bernice Hegeman. A mass of Christian burial for Rosemond will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6th at St. Paul's Campus Parish in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. Burial will be at West Cemetery in Green Township. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, Sept. 5th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions in Rosemond's name may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
