Rose Ella Russell passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Spectrum Health of Big Rapids following surgery. She died just two days short of her 92nd Birthday; which is Friday, November 15 (today). Rose Ella was born in Goodwell Twp, the daughter of Sidney and Viola Alger. She was a lifelong resident of the Big Rapids area and attended Big Rapids High School. Rose Ella was employed for many years as head cashier by Giant Super Markets. She retired in 1976 and began traveling and spending the winters in Zephyrhills Florida. Rose Ella loved to garden, dance, play cards and entertain family and friends. When she was younger, she enjoyed hunting. Rose Ella is survived by her daughters, Betty Witt Goldammer of Big Rapids, Nancy Fairman of Manhatten, KA, Linda (Doug) Mann of Youngsville, NC; her son Donald Dunn of Big Rapids; one brother, Floyd (Phyllis) Alger, of Kingsburg, Ca.; Avery's daughter, Patricia(Jim) Peracchio of Middletown, CT. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Avery's three grandsons; many great-and great,great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands David Dunn, Marshall Jablonski and Avery Russell; brothers, Fred and Willard Alger; sisters, Mildred King, Geneva Nye and Francis Sova. Also deceased are two grandsons, Kurt Dunn and Alan Witt; sons-in-law, Norman Witt, Wayne Goldammer and John Fairman; and a daughter-law, Bonnie Dunn. Memorials can be made in Rose Ella's name to the United Church, where she was a lifelong member, or Project Starburst, which she supported. A memorial service is planned for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17th at the United Church in Big Rapids with Rev. Jon Fleming officiating and Rev. Jerena Keys presiding. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at 3:00 p.m. at the Church.
