Obituary

Rosalyn D. Patterson, 87 of Stanwood, passed away April 18, 2013 at her home. She was born May 4, 1925 in Lilly, MI to Charles and Grace (Curtis) Higley. Rosalyn married Lee E. Patterson on December 20, 1941. She lived most of her life in the Stanwood area. Rosalyn will always be remembered by family members and friends as Aunt Rody or Grandma Rody. Rosalyn retired from Ferris State University, where she was employed for several years as a cook. She was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Pierson. Rosalyn enjoyed gardening, fishing, road trips, especially to Ludington and Frankenmuth, spending winters in Florida with her husband and visiting Disney World. In her later years, she enjoyed going to any casino. She was always looking forward to the next trip. Rosalyn's family meant everything to her; she will be forever missed by her five children, Patti (David) Louck of Stanwood, Eddie Patterson of Stanwood, Debbie (Rex) Castle of Pierson, Julie (Doug) Ginnever of Stanwood and Ron (Pat) Patterson of Stanwood; her grandchildren; Randy, Stacey, Jamie, Nicole, Christopher, Bethany, Chad, Jeremy, Katie, Heather and Hailey; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother Russell Higley of Stanwood; two sisters Betty (Bill) Reynolds of Prudenville, and Gloria (Robert) Vanderhoof of Laingsburg and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Lee in 2004; a granddaughter, Penny Sue; four brothers, Ed, Lyle, Lloyd and Kenneth Higley and four sisters, Morna Paris, Beulah Corbett, Marion Cassidy and Merilla Higley. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 23rd at the Heritage United Methodist Church in Pierson with the Pastor Brad Brillhart officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday, April 22nd from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Interment will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Rosalyn's name may be made to the Heritage United Methodist Church directed to the "Coffee Hour Fund" that meant so much to her.
