Obituary

I am filled with joy for I am in the presence of God. I am no longer bound by earthly treasures as I rejoice with God my Savior! Rosalie E. Benoit, age 79 of Paris left to be with her Lord, Monday, October 13, 2008 from her home embraced in the arms of her loving family. Rosalie was born November 10, 1928 in Detroit to Leo and Gertrude (Zielinski) Suchy. She graduated from Fordson High School, Dearborn in 1946 and married Alexander J. Benoit, on June 12, 1948 in Garden City. Together they made their home in the Detroit Metropolitan area until moving to Paris over 40 years ago. Rosalie was a devout and faithful Catholic her entire life. She was a member of Saint Anne Church of Paris and Saint Anne's Altar Society. Rosalie was also a member of the Barton Township Board, the Polonaise Society, the Citizens for Educational Freedom and seemingly every humanistic organization known to mankind. She is survived by her loving family of three sons; Dreux (Elaine) Benoit of Hudsonville, Clifford Benoit of Spring Creek, NV, Maurice (Kathi) Benoit of Rockford, three daughters; Nanette (John) Mishler of Owosso, Rachelle (Paul) Weston of Clarksville, TN, Anjanette (Barry) Shoemaker of Paris, 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, three brothers; Arthur (Audrianna) Suchy, Eugene (Jan) Suchy and Patrick (Juanita) Suchy all of Westland, many nieces and nephews and her dedicated caregivers, Diane Zimmerman, Marlene Fatum and Christina Hogan. Besides her parents Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander on May 3, 2004; her son, Roger; grandsons, Christopher and Noah and brothers, Leon and Ronald. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 17th at Saint Anne Church near Paris. The family will greet friends at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions in Rosalie's name may be given to Saint Anne's Altar Society.
