Ronald C. Whalen, age 91 of Chippewa Lake, MI formerly of Wyoming and Grand Rapids, MI, was called home by his Lord and Savior December 3, 2022 after a lengthy struggle with Parkinsons. He was born in Grand Rapids, on April 9, 1931, the son of the late Maxwell and Lucille (Slenker) Whalen. Ronald was also preceded in death by a brother Richard, sister Lois Rottschafer, and a son-in-law Mark Ferner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Arlene (Pranger) Whalen; four daughters, Carol (Greg) Popma, Linda Ferner, Susan (Ellery) Gill, and Lori (Craig) Myers; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Neola Dykstra; and many nieces and nephews.
Ronald had a long career as a truck driver, which he loved and enjoyed doing. It was his love of driving that led to many summer family excursions and road trips through all the many back roads of Michigan. Following his retirement, Ronald and Arlene spent their winters in Florida. He appreciated his time of life living on the lake. Ronald was an avid fisherman; he looked forward to fishing year-round with family and friends.
