Ronald C. Schuberg, age 67 of Morley, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 14, 1951 in Big Rapids, the son of Harry and Virginia (Vanderlip) Schuberg. Ron was a 1969 graduate from Morley-Stanwood High School. He married Jane Burden on February 10, 1973 at the Stanwood Free Methodist Church and together they raised their family in Morley. Ron was a very ambitious and happy man that loved to be busy working. After graduation from high school, he worked for several different pipe line companies. In 1983 he began his 25 year career working for Lees Trenching in Byron Center putting in water services. Ron then took on a job with MJ Electric in 2011 until he retired in 2017. In his earlier years, Ron and his brother Don enjoyed digging many ponds around the area with his dragline crane. He was also a weekend farmer; he had 20 head of cattle, several ducks, dogs, and cats that he loved. Ron was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. He also belonged to the IBEW Local 876 and the Operating Engineers 324. Ron had a great sense of humor and was known to always have a good joke to tell. Ron lived his life to the fullest. He was a great provider, husband, father, and grandfather. Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane; two sons, Anthony (Stacey) of Stanwood and Adam of Morley; two grandsons, Zackary and Levi both of Stanwood; mother, Virginia of Big Rapids; sister, Suzanne of Big Rapids; twin brother, Donald (Irene) of Big Rapids; brothers, Dennis (Cheryl) and Kenneth (Patty) both of Big Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant daughter Angela. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids with Pastor Peggy Rose officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Ron will be laid to rest at Higbee Cemetery in Morley.
