Ronald R. Ranshaw Sr., age 83, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at his home in Chippewa Lake, MI. He was born on March 20, 1932 in Barryton to Gerald and Helen (Shank) Ranshaw. Ron married Jerry Mansfield on July 8, 1953 in Covington, KY and entered into the United States Navy on July 14th of that same year. Ron and Jerry made their home and raised their family in Lansing where he worked as a supervisor at GM. He retired in 1981 and was proud to have been retired longer than he worked. In 1980 they moved to Chippewa Lake where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a passion for fun and worked relentlessly to make the lake a fun place to visit. Ron was a talented builder and helped several people in the area with their construction needs.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Jerry; 6 children, Debbie (Dave) Suty, Ronald (Charlene Kohl) Ranshaw Jr. (AKA Butch), Ronda (Gary) Vorce, Tammy (Al) Dionise, Michelle (Doug) Eash and Todd (Connie) Ranshaw; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, William and Duane (Martha) Ranshaw; 1 sister, Elouise (Ron) Pohl; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ranshaw and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will continue to treasure the memories they have.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Helen; brothers, Gary and Lowell; an infant sister, Betty Ranshaw and sister-in-law, Betty Ranshaw.

The family will greet friends for a celebration of Rons life from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 7296 9 Mile Rd. Mecosta. A luncheon will be served.

In lieu of flowers, Ron asked that memorial donations be made to MYHEC (a youth hunting organization) or Hospice of Michigan. Cremation has taken place with the care of Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
