Ronald Keith Eichenberg, 89, of Reed City, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at his home. Ronald was born on August 26, 1927 in Hawkins, Michigan to Leonard and Blanche (Bregenzer) Eichenberg. He served in the United States Army as a Corporal and later served as a Master Sargeant in the US Army Reserves. Ron was a kind and loving Dad to his five children and three stepchildren. One of his biggest passions was his trucks and his logging business, which he owned and operated for over 60 years. Ronald married Elizabeth "Betty" Ross on June 21, 1980, who survives. He is also survived by children, Wilma (Don) Mekkes of Rodney, Linda (Dar) Wernette of Remus, Sue (Jay Smiecinski) Snavley of Mecosta, Joyce Eichenberg-Oakley of Mecosta; stepchildren, Pam (David) Biller of Coopersville, James (Judy) Ross of Trufant and Owen (Patti) Ross of TX; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Steve Eichenberg; a grandson, Christopher Mekkes and brother, Harland Eichenberg.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends two hours prior (from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.).Memorial contributions may be made in Ronald's name for his funeral expenses or the Michigan Heart Association.Arrangements were entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
