Ronald S. Chart, 82, of Big Rapids, passed away at Metron of Big Rapids June 5, 2012. He was born May 20, 1930 in Big Rapids to Edith Ritz and John Chart. Ron graduated from Big Rapids High School. He married Marilyn P. Marlette on August 10, 1956. They loved traveling the world going to 137 countries, 5 continents, and 50 States. Ronald was enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and was stationed in Chicago, Hawaii, Tokyo and Okinawa until he was honorably discharged in 1957. While he was in the army, he was a member of the All Army Bowling League that won the International Bowling Championship in Tulsa Oklahoma. Ronald earned a Master's Degree in Finance from the University of Michigan. He was employed for 23 years by Brunswick Corp. He loved playing tennis as well as being on several bowling leagues. Ronald was also a loving companion to his cat Dusty. He is survived by his cousins Ken and Judy Ritz, Carol Ritz, sister in-law Lorraine Lavengood, Brother in-law Ralph "Leo" (Lois) Marlette, sister in-law Catherine Marlette, many dear nieces and nephews, and loving friend Tammy (Gerry) Gillis. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn of 54 years and a cousin Wayne Ritz. At the request of Ronald, there will be no funeral services. A family memorial service may be held at a later date. Final resting place will be at Highland View Cemetery. Memorials can be made in his memory to Mecosta County Cares, P.O. Box 1008-C, Big Rapids.
