Obituary

Roger W. Hatton, age 73, of Mecosta, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his home. He was born August 18, 1949 in Grand Rapids, the son of William and Ethel (Waite) Hatton. Roger was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1971 after serving in Vietnam. He had a variety of jobs throughout his life but was always a hard worker. Roger enjoyed being out in nature hiking, but especially loved spending time on the golf course. He was an avid movie watcher and had a passion for writing poetry. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family and lovable cats. Roger is survived by the light of his life, his daughter, Emma Hatton; siblings, Bonnie (James) Shaw, Linda (Almy) Moore, Cindi (Kevin Doyle) Voss, David (Laurel Reed) Hatton, Sr., and David Hatton Jr.; previous wife, Gretchen Hatton; many nieces, nephews; and his beloved cats, Snowball and Chris. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William. Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with visitation from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Officiating, Reverend Dar Howard. Interment at East Fork Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Rogers name to Daggett Funeral Home to help pay for funeral expenses or ARC of Mecosta County.
