Roger L. Griffith, age 60 of Big Rapids passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 in Big Rapids surrounded by his family after battling brain cancer for three years. He was born July 12, 1947 in Greenville, Michigan to Robert and Elinor (Petersen) Griffith Roger graduated in 1965 from Big Rapids High School. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Education from Ferris State University in 1970. Roger married Deborah Jean Post on April 23, 1982 in Big Rapids. He was a member of the United Church of Big Rapids and a member of Elks Lodge #974 of Big Rapids. Roger loved all sports; especially hockey, fishing, hunting, including hunting in the mountains out west. He was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited. Roger was inducted into the Mecosta County Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. He always enjoyed socializing with his many friends, including M.S.P./V.F.W Softball team from Reed City, and also dearly loved family gatherings. As requested by Roger, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Elks Lodge in Big Rapids.
