Rodrick L. Hopkins age 60 of Evart, formerly of Marion passed away, Thursday, February 15, 2007 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 24, 1946 in Cadillac to Asahel and Ella (Bigford) Hopkins. Rodrick was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Marion. He is survived by his mother, Ella of Marion, life long love Nancy Gilliland of Evart, Children: Angela (Bob) Barnett of Jackson, Rodrick "Pete" Hopkins II of Jackson, Annette (Gene) Wernette of Big Rapids, Lee (Diane) Burgess of Mt. Ulla, NC, Nicole (Mike) DuVall of Remus, thirteen grandchildren, beloved pets; his dog Sassafras (a.k.a. Fleabag) and his cat Frankie. Rod was preceded in death by: his daughter Jeanie, Father Asahel, brother Tedrick, Paternal and Maternal grandparents, Best Friend William Hower, Beloved Uncle Cleo "Buck" and many other Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Funeral services will take place 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Daggett Funeral Home, in Barryton with his cousin, Pastor John Bigford officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday.
