Rodney J. Maher, 89, of Chippewa Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Born on October 9, 1935, in Lisbon, North Dakota, Rodney was the beloved son of Dawson and Martha (Schiffner) Maher. He was united in marriage to Catherine Bogoske. She preceded him in death. Rodney proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces before embarking on a career at General Motors, where he worked in inspection until his retirement. He was also a member of the Big Rapids Eagles Aerie 2535. He cherished football Sundays, classic westerns, and the melodies of country music. Always one for adventure, Rodney loved spontaneous trips to the casino, trying his luck with the lottery, and sharing laughs with friends and family. He valued time spent with his neighborhood family and the people and family in his life. Rodney is survived by his daughter, Gail Maher; his granddaughter, Sabrina (David) Wahl; great-grandchildren, Xander, Hunter, and Gwendolyn; and great-great-grandchild, Haru. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his daughter, Karolyn. No services are planned and arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Barryton.
