Rocky A. Symon, age 63 of Stanwood, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home. He was born June 24, 1953 in Muskegon, the son of Harry and Joyce (Lavassuer) Symon. Rocky married Yvonne Arnson on July 29, 1972 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, where they attended. Together Rocky and Yvonne raised their daughter in Stanwood. He was employed by Cathodic Protection Services in Chicago for nearly 30 years. Rocky enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandkids and son-in-law. He liked to drag race and ride his Harley. Rocky was a good friend to many. He will be remembered for making his friends laugh and smile with his quick wit and joking personality. Rocky was a member of the Stanwood Buffalo Eagles 4360 and the Big Rapids AmVets Post 1941. He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Yvonne Symon of Stanwood; daughter, Dana (Cliff) Ouellette of Stanwood; two grandchildren, Dylan and Mekayla Carey; sister, Yvonne "Suze" (Larry) Kilbourne of Roger Heights; and several nieces and nephews. Rocky was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Kaye Ferguson-Patton officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday before the service at the funeral home. Rocky will be laid to rest at Highland View Cemetery.
