Robert G. "Bob" Walworth, age 71 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 7, 1950, the son of Ford and Odette (Parker) Walworth. Bob graduated high school before serving his country honorably with the United States Army. During the Vietnam War, Bob earned several medals including: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert IB. He then attended Ferris State University earning a Bachelors Degree in Surveying. Bob worked at DTE Energy (MichCon) for 36 years covering the Big Rapids and Six Lakes region. He started in the surveying department moving into gas operations and construction. Bob retired as a construction manager in 2013. Bob started his own consulting agency, Walworth Energy Services, which he operated until 2020. He was a kind hearted genuine man that cared for his work family and friends. Bob cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary St. Paul Catholic Community of Big Rapids. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Mary Kay Walworth of Big Rapids; seven children, Adam (Anne) London of Big Rapids, Ben (Lisa) Walworth of Big Rapids, Angie London of Paris, Bethany (Michael) Hinson of Florida, Aaron (Jennifer) London of Brighton, Alex Walworth of Paris, and Ethan Walworth of Paris; 11 grandchildren, Waylon, Zachary, Nicholas, Sydney, Samuel, Lucas, Elizabeth, Theodore Robert, Ashley, Madelynne, and Jaxon; two siblings, Jim (Sandy) Walworth of California and Renee (Kelley) Keena of Hersey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan Starr of Florida, Jim (Sue) Starr of Iron Mountain, Bob (Sue) Starr of Brighton, and Jill Ruppel of Big Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law Fred and Mabel Starr. Mass of the Resurrection will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Jegar Fickel officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church. Bob will be laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids.
