Robert L. "Bob" Squires, age 88 of Big Rapids formerly of Barryton, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020. He was born in Barryton on April 19, 1932, the son of Lewis and Josephine (Dow) Squires. Bob was a 1951 graduate of Barryton Agricultural High School. He was a talented man and held various jobs throughout his working career. Bob married Mary Razinha on July 10, 1971, and together they raised their family in Barryton. His passion was deer hunting. He spent many years out west on hunts with his family. Bob enjoyed puzzles and drawing pictures, especially cartoons. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Squires; 11 children, Dr. Lewis (Wanda) Squires, Russell (Betsy) Squires, Robert Jr. (Judy) Squires, Roberta (Mike) Pyrett, Michael (Jennifer) Squires, Sheila (Dan) Towson, Peggy (Dan) Jones, Cindy (Nokk) Nguyen, Linda Bentley, Lori (Ted) Platz, and Penny (Jermaine) Brown; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Squires; two sisters-in-law, Zona Squires and Helen Squires; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wayne and Bill Squires, sister Betty Spencer, two sons-in-law Stephen Pyrett and Richard Bentley, first wife Esther Squires, and mother of Cindy Leona VanBuskirk. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Old Country Church, 17881 21 Mile Road, Big Rapids, Michigan 49307, with his nephew Pastor Eric Stadtfeld officiating.
