Obituary

Robert "Bob" Smith 83 of Big Rapids died at his residence of natural causes on Saturday June 6, 2020. He is survived by wife Karen, daughter Melissa (John), sons Mike (Deecy), Mark (Beth) and Monte. He is also survived by his 9 loving grandchildren, his sister Gail Deboyer and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Mother Irene and Father William. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and spent most of his childhood in Wayne and Algonac, Michigan. Bob worked for the State of Michigan starting as a tower man in the Pigeon River Forest area in 1956 and finally as a Conservation Officer in 1968 stationed in Mecosta County for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as competitive pistol shooting at the annual Michigan Police Shoot. He was active in Trinity Fellowship church of Big Rapids as well as Spring Hill Camps in Evart, Michigan. He was also active in Forgotten Man Ministries, playing his guitar and singing for services in the Mecosta County Jail. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later time and date.
