Robert E. Sharp, age 72 of Stanwood passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007 in Big Rapids. He was born October 24, 1934, in Stanwood to Earl and Marvis (Hollenbeck) Sharp. He was married to Nancy L. Totten on January 7, 1984 at Blue Lake. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Stanwood, a member of the Operating Engineers Union for over 40 years, charter member of Rogers Heights VFW Post #4102 and Big Rapids Eagles Aerie #2535. Robert loved traveling, golf, racing events, and was an avid Nascar fan. Robert is survived by: Wife "" Nancy of Big Rapids Sons: Ron Sharp of Stanwood Gary (Lorraine) Sharp of Florida Two stepsons; Jeff (Sharon) Toogood of Rodney Dale Toogood of Hersey Two stepdaughters: Judi (Mike) Reynolds of CA Kimberly Toogood of Portage Brothers and sisters: Winifred (Glen) Spedoski of Stanwood Gerald (Helen) Sharp of Florida Wilma Sharp of Florida Beatrice (Dutch) Bell of Texas Dale (Geraldine) Bell of Florida Beverly (Dave) Cousineau of Georgia Glen (Sue) Sharp of Morley Thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and his dog, Gidget. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by; step son, David Toogood and a brother, Gilbert. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2007 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Gerald Switzer officiating. The family will greet friends an hour before service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Junction or St. Jude's Children Hospital in Robert's name.
