Robert E. "Rob" Post, age 68 of Stanwood, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009. He was born June 26, 1940 in Shepherd to Carl and Martha (Moeggenberg) Post. Rob graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1959. He grew up in the Blue Lake and the Chippewa Lake areas. Rob married Victoria Gray on February 9, 1963 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Remus. The couple made their home in Rogers Heights for many years and then moved to their farm in Stanwood where they have lived for the past 32 years. Rob worked for Wolverine World Wide for 25 years and later at Hanchette Manufacturing until his retirement. A devout Catholic his entire live, Rob was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish for 46 years. Rob loved to ride Gold Wings and was a proud member of the GWRRA, his also enjoyed hunting, gardening and snowmobiling. He is survived by his loving family members, including his beloved wife of 46 years, Victoria of Stanwood; 3 children, Larry A. (Michelle) Post of Monument, CO, Theresa (Joe Phelps) Post-Beach of Big Rapids, Michael (Melody) Post of Traverse City; 5 grandchildren, Heather M. (Fianc, Tony Weatherly) Beach of Auburn Hills, Ashley A. Beach of Laveen, AZ, Arek R. Hawkins of Traverse City, Tyler R. Post of Traverse City and Jacob A. Post of Traverse City; sister, Judy (Ralph) Manting and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Rob was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Post in 1974. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 3rd at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday, at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service and a Rosary being prayed at 8:30 p.m. that evening. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to the Mass service, at the Church, on Friday. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Rob's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Mary's Catholic.
