Robert R. "Bob" Mais, age 77 of Morley, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his home. He was born May 9, 1937 in Mishawaka, Indiana, the son of Sylvester and Gladys (Theurel) Mais. Bob married Madalyn Long on June 21, 1977 in Grand Rapids where they raised their family. He was employed by C.S.X Railroad in Grand Rapids for 43 years. Bob retired in 1990 and together he and Madalyn traveled and lived in many different states throughout the country. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; fishing in every state he visited. He is survived by his wife just short of 37 years, Madalyn Mais of Morley; six children, Robin (John) Warner, Robert Mais Jr., Debra Mais, Brenda (Randy) Hertgers, Michael Mais and Catherine Dawson; five step-children, Lance Glowacki, Loretta Glowacki, Alida (Brad) Butler, Allen (Julie) Middleton, and Amy (Roland) Williams; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Kavorike; sister, Carolyn (Roger) Towns; four nephews and many cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Lewis Middleton. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at the VFW Post 4249 Memorial Hall, on Mason Drive between Grant and Newaygo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to Heartland Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
