Robert H. Graves, age 59 of White Cloud, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at his home. He was born March 10, 1953 in Washington D.C., the son of John and Barbara (Holland) Graves. Robert graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw in 1971. He then attended University of Michigan where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Robert married Ann in June of 1983 in Saginaw. He began his career as a retail manager for home improvement stores until his recent retirement from Lowes. Robert was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, MA. He loved his cats and the outdoors, especially gardening and yard work. Robert enjoyed the Christmas season and was a collector of ceramic Christmas villages. He would get pleasure from attending auctions, estate sales and yard sales. Robert was a dedicated fan of U of M football and enjoyed watching their games. He is survived by his wife, Ann Graves of White Cloud; three sons, Darrell Zink of Pickerington, OH, Geoffrey (Deeniz) Zink of Reynoldsburg, OH and Brandon Graves of Baltimore, OH; a granddaughter expected in October; his mother, Barbara Graves of White Cloud; four siblings, John Graves Jr. of Dallas, GA, Margaret Graves of Bay City, David (Crystal) Graves of New Boston and Nancy (Edgar Wilson) Graves of Holland; many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his father, John Graves Sr. A celebration of life will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22nd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends at 12:00 p.m. (noon) prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
