Obituary

Robert Corlew, age 43, of Big Rapids, Michigan, passed away on February 25, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Rob was born on January 26, 1983, at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, Michigan, to Kathleen Ann Corlew (Lamkin) and Errol Lee Corlew. He grew up in Muskegon and spent his early years tinkering, building, and repairing anything he could get his hands on. He had a natural gift for creating and fixing, a deep passion for driving, and a love for the open road.

In his free time, Rob could often be found fishing, swapping jokes, and filling every room with his laughter. Known by many as a “traveling local mechanic,” he combined his skills with his love of music, travel, and adventure, always living life to the fullest, sometimes even wreaking a little havoc with his cousins along the way.

Rob married Amie on November 5, 2017, and together they began their journey traveling the country as over-the-road truckers. They created lasting memories from the red rocks of Arizona to the mountains of Colorado, continuing their shared passion for traveling in their personal lives Rob and Amie celebrated special moments, and shared unforgettable experiences including seven states trips to weekend getaway exploring the open road. Back home, Rob and Amie shared a passion for building the family they dreamed of together. They cherished time with their five grandchildren, with one more on the way. Their lives were devoted to family, and they found their greatest joy in watching their family grow.

Rob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. His time in the Army was a defining chapter of his life, one that shaped his strength, discipline, and unwavering sense of loyalty. He carried pride in his service with him long after his military years, honoring the values of duty, honor, and brotherhood in the way he lived his everyday life. He deeply respected his fellow service members and remained grateful for the opportunity to serve his country. Being a proud Army veteran was not just something he did, it was part of who he was.

Rob is survived by his loving wife, Amie Corlew; his children, Kassidy Scarberry (Dakota), Rachel Barrientos (Colt), Taira Barrientos, Ally Barrientos, Madilynn Corlew, and Kyndall Corlew; and honorary son, Josh Chandler. He is also survived by his grandchildren: River Ann, Nashville Antonio, Griffin Azreal-William, Italiegh Paige-Marrie, and Zealand Grey. He is further survived by his siblings, Errol Corlew Jr. (Terresa), Adam Corlew (Lisa), Taylor Corlew, Chris Minzey, Heather Vandrunen, and Kristi Parshall (Kort), along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Loraine Lamkin; William “Bud” Lamkin; Rose Corlew; Norman Corlew Sr.; Kathleen Ann Kott; and Errol Lee Corlew Sr.

A celebration of life will be held on March 6, 2026, at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes in Big Rapids, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., with services following at 2:00 p.m.
