Robert B. Brown, age 76 of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010. He was born August 8, 1933 in Detroit the son of Irene and Maurice Pominville. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during World War II in the European Theater. Bob was a cook his entire life. He moved to this area in the early 1960's and worked for Bob Carpenter at Pizza Bob's in Big Rapids. He later went to work at Ferris State University as a cook. Bob truly enjoyed his time at Ferris and made many dear and lifelong friends. He retired from Ferris after 20 years of service. He is survived by many family members including his cousins; Victoria Jensen of Big Rapids, and her daughters, Kimberly Young and Kelly Withers, Mickey (Tammie) Mooney of Kentucky, Debbie (Jeff) Mobley of Tennessee, Angie Maguire of Big Rapids and the caring staff at Altercare of Big Rapids. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care Bob received during his stay at Altercare and they will be forever grateful. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend John Dawson officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday the 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Highland View Cemetery with Military Honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #98 Firing Squad of Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to AmVets Post #1941 of Big Rapids whose members also comprise the firing squad.
