Robert "Bob" Bonner, age 74 of Rodney, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Schnepps Nursing Home. He was born September 13, 1949 in Grand Rapids, the son of Robert and Bernice (Fairbrother) Bonner. Bob enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1968. He proudly served in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1970. Bob was a master electrician for over 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends at deer camp. He loved to grill, bird watch, and hunt for mushrooms with his dogs. Most of all, Bob cherished the time he spent with family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Melvina of Rodney; children, Emma Taylor of Rodney, David Mercer of Big Rapids; grandchildren, Brad Taylor, Michael Mercer, Haley Mercer, Korra Mercer; eight grandchildren; brothers, Carl, Gary and Tom Bonner; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Madeline Mercer; sister, Sue Schuberg; and brother, Jim Bonner. Memorial contributions may be made in Bobs name to the Wounded Warrior Project. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends an hour before the service and Wednesday, June 19th from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Officiating, Reverend Jeremy Wicks. Bob will be laid to rest at Martiny Township Cemetery.
