Robert W. Aamoth, age 76 of Barryton, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at his home. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on February 23, 1947, the son of the late Wayne and Geraldine (Page) Aamoth. Following graduation from high school, Robert earned his bachelor degree from Iowa State University and later his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University. Robert (Bob) was employed in the construction industry which allowed him to travel the world, from Saudi Arabia to Alaska, despite being a childhood polio survivor. When he could no longer be hands on in construction, he began teaching Construction Management at Ferris State University, retiring in 2015. Robert enjoyed playing the harmonica, was a talented woodworker, and adored his faithful companion his dog, Roman. Robert is survived by his three sons, Bill (Renea) of Hudsonville, Ben of Hudsonville, and Matt of Grand Rapids; two granddaughters, Piper and Elliot; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Diane Abbott of Dorr. He was preceded in death by his brothers Douglas and Jerry. A Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
