Richard "Dick" Sanderson, 91, of Millbrook went home to be with His Lord on Monday, October 27, 2014 in Mt. Pleasant. Dick was born on December 18, 1922 in Lansing to Otis and Irene (Pattison) Sanderson. He graduated from Remus High School in 1941. On June 6, 1954 he married Grace Taylor in Blanchard. They made their home in Millbrook where they raised their children and have resided in the same home for over 60 years. Dick owned and operated Sanderson's Furniture in the Village of Millbrook for 37 years. He was proud to have been named in the Michigan Who's Who of Businessmen. Dick was actively involved at St. Michael's Parish in Remus with the RCIA and a volunteer at God's Helping Hands. He was an outdoorsman, was the former president of the Chiefs and Squaws Square Dance Club, a member of the Odd Fellows, enjoyed history, loved books and collecting. Dick loved big band music and was a professional drummer. The family will hold many memories of yearly trips to Mackinaw Island close to their hearts. Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years Grace; two daughters, Ruth Sanderson of Gowen and Susan Bradley of Valdosta, GA; two grandchildren, Kevin (Mary) Mahlich of Stanton and Erin Fleser of Belding; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous beloved family members and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus with Father Aaron Ferris officiating. Interment will be at Decker Cemetery in Millbrook Township. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30th at St. Michael's with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions in Dick's name can be made to God's Helping Hands or St. Michael's in Remus.
