Richard A. "Dick" Maneke, age 72 of Lakeview formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. He was born November 4, 1943 in Big Rapids, the son of Arthur and Marion (Malett) Maneke. Dick was a Big Rapids High School graduate. After high school he joined the United States Army National Guard and was honorably discharged. Dick married Leona "Lee" Lovette on August 13, 1966 in Big Rapids, where they raised their family. In 1976 they moved to Lakeview and bought a farm. Dick was a farmer his entire life; he enjoyed his cows and tractors. Dick was employed by Carl Subler Trucking and Rogers Cartage for over 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Stanwood Eagles Aerie 4360. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years Lee Maneke of Lakeview; two daughters, Debbie (fianc Ed Grice) Oehme of Sand Lake and Kerry (Kevin) Nowicki of Grand Rapids; four grandchildren, Amber, Lauren, and Cody Oehme and Hailey Nowicki; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Alice (Gordon) Brockway of Morley and Sharon (Rob) Short of Kalkaska; many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27th at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Dicks name to Susan P. Wheatlake Cancer Center.
