Richard Lee Jensen passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was born April 5, 1947 to Bob and Betty (Crame) Jensen in Stanwood, where he resided all his life. Richard graduated from Morley Stanwood High School. He married Carol Kranz in 1965 and together they had 3 children, Richard Jr., Ronald, and Robert. He worked in construction with his dad for many years. He later started working at the Morley Stanwood Schools as the head of maintenance for 33 years, until he retired in 2010. Richard truly enjoyed life. He spent his time farming, and raising cattle, along with many other hobbies. He loved working with his backhoe, was a talented and capable operator, matched by none. Richard never missed an opportunity to go hunting. He touched many lives, was a kind, gentle and caring man. Richard loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his family, and his "Lovey" (Norene Jensen). He was always there to help anyone in need. Richard loved his animals, especially his dogs Tonka and Maggie. Richards favorite things to say were, "Good Night!" and "keep the chew in the middle of your mouth!" He will be missed greatly by his family and his community. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Carol Jensen, son Rick Jensen, Jr., and grandparents Rhea and Dewey Crame and Margaret and Lawrence Jensen. He is survived by his wife, Norene Jensen of Stanwood; sons, Ronald (Renee) Jensen of Stanwood, and Robert Jensen of Reed City; parents, Robert and Betty Jensen of Stanwood; brother, Bob (Janet) Jensen of Stanwood and sister, Sue (Jim) Goyings of White Cloud; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Mecosta with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 8th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids and one hour prior to the service at Church on Thursday. Richard will be laid to rest at Higbee Cemetery in Morley. Memorial Contributions may be made in Richard's name to Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 9407 90th Ave, Mecosta, MI 49332.
