Obituary

Richard C. St. Arnold, age 68 of Morley, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020. He was born August 19, 1951 in Grand Rapids the son of Victor and Arlene (Armstrong) St. Arnold. At the age of 17, with his mothers permission, Richard enlisted in the United States Marines Corps. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was also stationed in Washing D.C. assigned to a special security detail for President Richard Nixon. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Grand Rapids. He soon met the former Ann Marie Bramer, they were married and made their home in Grand Rapids where Richard was a sheet metal and Iron Worker. One of his favorite projects was building the Skywalk at the Devos Hall. He was also one of the few workers brave enough to go to the top of the Amway Grand while completing the installation of the buildings HVAC duct work. On Christmas Eve, 1994, Richard and Ann moved to their home in Morley. Richard fully retired from his work in Grand Rapids on June 3, 2011. Richard was a dedicated member of D.A.V. Chapter #18 in Big Rapids where he served as the Service Officer for many years. He also had a connection with the Potawatomi tribe of Native Americans. Richard was a very loving, giving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and devoted family including his wife, Ann S. Arnold of Morley; his son, Victor St. Arnold of Morley, his daughter, Theresa St. Arnold of Grand Rapids; his granddaughter, Jessica; three sisters, Mae Kent, Cindy St. Arnold, Mary St. Arnold; two brothers, Bob St. Arnold, Roger St. Arnold all of Grand Rapids; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Due to the covid 19 pandemic there will be no services taking place for Richard in the near future. Those wishing to make a memorial contributions in his name may do so to a local D.A.V. Home or a local Animal Shelter in the donors area.
