Rex A. Larsen, age 59 of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his home. He was born July 7, 1952 in Big Rapids, the son of Donald and Anna Mae (Addington) Larsen. Rex graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1970. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving during the Vietnam War. Rex worked as a logger for several years, both for himself and with his Uncle Albert Larsen. He later sold his logging equipment, bought a big rig and began his 15 year career as a self employed cross country trucker. Following retirement Rex was able to focus on his love of Harley Motorcycles, including the many trips he took. Rex enjoyed tinkering in his garage and fixing things up. He was a great hunter and had taken several trophy bucks. Rex was a member of the White Cloud Eagles for many years. He is survived by his son, R.J. Larsen of Sandy, UT; his mother, Anna Mae Garner of Big Rapids; a brother, Mike (Char) Larsen of Big Rapids; 2 sisters, Patricia (Larry) Willett of Grand Rapids and Chris Miller of Big Rapids; 3 step-brothers, Jerry (Conda) Garner of Big Rapids, Joe (Kathy) Garner of Big Rapids and Jack (Lynn) Garner of FL; a step-sister, Betty Ann Garner of CA; 2 nieces and 5 nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rex was preceded in death by his father, Donald Mikkel Larsen; a brother, Richard Dean Larsen; a brother-in-law, Joe Miller; step-father, Roy E. Garner. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids conducted by Bill Routley.
