Obituary

Rev. Edward A. Smith, age 77 of Remus, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant. He was born on July 11, 1935 in Remus, MI to Arthur and Marion (Hart) Smith. Ed graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Jackson, KY. While attending Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute Ed met Vera J. Warren and they were married on June 20, 1959 in Pontiac, MI. In the mid 1970's they made their home in Remus and before their health began to decline had attended the Barryton Church of God. Ed loved the Lord and Pastored in Montrose, Dearborn, St. Louis and Remus. Together with Vera they spent many days visiting shut-ins. He enjoyed helping others and had a talent for fixing things that were broke and for carving canes. He had an eye for making something out of nothing which led to many creative yard ornaments for his family to treasure. Ed is survived by; three beloved children, Warren (Carrie) Smith of Parma, MI, Connie (Terry) Moore of Remus, MI and Brenda (Michael) Guilliams of Dearborn, MI; six grandchildren whom he adored, Ted, Stephanie and Hayden Smith, Heather (Jonathon) Moore Pepple, Luke and Josiah Guilliams; four sisters, Ava Smith of Vancleve, KY, Genevieve Weeber of Fremont, MI, Eunice Lockwood of Grimstead, VA, Dorellen Belleau of Remus, MI; one niece, three nephews and close friends. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Smith in 2011 and parents Arthur and Marion Smith. Cremation has taken place through the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. A memorial service will be held July 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Barryton Church of God. Memorial donations in Ed's name can be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship, P.O. Box 47, Nampa, Idaho, 83653.
