Rev. Harold Gilkerson Jr. passed from this life into the next on Sunday May 26, 2024. He was born on January 3, 1942 to Harold and Ada Gilkerson in Wayne, West Virginia. He moved his family up to the Detroit area in 1967 to find work and was employed by the National Bank of Detroit as an internal auditor but left to pursue a career in computers. He retired from the Henry Ford Health Care System Laboratory Services Director on July 5, 2000 and retired to Canadian Lakes, Michigan. Harold served as a pastor in several churches in Michigan; General Baptist Mt. Clemens, Big Rapids and Fremont Church of the Nazarene. Most recently he served as the Visiting Pastor at the Brockway Wesleyan Church in Morley. Harold was known for his sense of humor and always told his friends and family "Dont forget I love you". Harold liked to golf but loved serving the Lord. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife Ina (Brunty) Gilkerson, a sister Deloris Jean and her husband Robert Lee Jarrell. He is survived by his wife Dee (Robinson) Gilkerson and three children, Eric (Tracey) Gilkerson, Robin (Dan) Ryan, and Melody Lowe. Grandchildren Gordon Graham, Jason (Tracy)Graham, and Justin Graham. Andrea (Anil) Kapoor, Jordan Gilkerson, Linsey Gilkerson, Natalie Gilkerson, Nicholas Lowe and Vivian Lowe; in addition, niece Tammy Ward and three great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will take place 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Brockway Wesleyan Church, (10951 Three Mile Road, Morley) with Reverend Jeff Lemire, Jr officiating. There will be a luncheon served immediately following the memorial service. The family requests memorial contributions in Harolds memory be made to the Brockway Wesleyan Church.
