Obituary

Raymond Eugene Minier, age 84, of Chippewa Lake, MI passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 4, 1929 in Grand Ledge the son of Clifton and Bernice (Schneeberger) Minier. Ray served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1956 aboard the U.S.S. Kankakee. On December 14, 1951 he married June L. Sample in Lansing and they made their home and raised their family inDeWitt. Ray retired from the Clinton County Road Commission and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and former Pathfinder Leader. He was a life member of the Buckley Steam Engine Club, former member of the Big Rapids Elks Lodge and former member of the Moose and VFW Lodges in DeWitt. Ray loved snowmobiling, fishing, playing softball, dancing, tractors and visits with family and friends. Ray is survived by his wife of 62 years June and three children, Richard (Linda) Secord ofE. Lansing, Rae Gene (Jerry) Frederickson of DeWitt and Randall (Pamela) Minier ofBig Rapids; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Burnice Irene Wilcox and Teresa R. Griffith; one brother Gaylord H. Minier and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Dorothy Younglove. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends two hours prior from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Chippewa Lake Cemetery.
