Ralph G. Turnbull of Holland, formerly of Weidman died September 7, 2021 at the age of 92.
He was born on March 8, 1929 to Bliss and Helen (Auten) Turnbull in Ortonville. He graduated from Ortonville High School. Ralph worked for the Pontiac Motor Division before honorably serving in the Navy during the Korean War. On November 23, 1955 Ralph married Ruth Boger and together they raised their family in Weidman and later Lansing.
Ralph spent most of his career as an educator after earning Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Education from Central Michigan University. He began as an Industrial Arts teacher, then became principal in Barryton, and later accepted the position as Superintendent in Weidman. When the area schools consolidated, he was the Assistant Superintendent for the Chippewa Hills School District. Ralph then went on to work for the Michigan Department of Education. After leaving that position, he became an EPA School Asbestos Inspector and finally retired in 1995.
He was a longtime member of Weidman United Methodist Church and a member of the Weidman Lions Club for 54 years. Woodworking was one of his favorite hobbies.
Surviving are two sons, Bob and Tim Turnbull, both of Holland as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Ruth and his brothers and sisters.
A private service was held and Ralph was laid to rest at North Brinton Cemetery in Lake.
