Rajka Rush, age 57 of White Cloud, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 with her devoted family by her side; after an unexpected and courageous battle with acute cancer. Rajka was born June 24, 1964 to Slobodan Marinkovi and Vesna (Majer) Miroevi in Belgrade (former Yugoslavia). Rajka enjoyed a lifetime of learning, educating, working multiple jobs, and above all loving her family. She adored her granddaughter tremendously. Rajka was an accomplished intellectual with many talents and skills, which included earning her bachelors degree and masters degree in Zagreb, Croatia and eventually went on to earn her Doctorate in Philosophy from Western Michigan University. She was a published author, writing poetry, and being an active member in her faith community. Rajka was a member of the Big Rapids First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the dance club Lyrics in Motion. Rajka was the Director of Education for North Lake Correctional Facility, online professor for the United States Air Force Teaching Comparative Religion and Language, and held several other educational and community enrichment positions. She also enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Rajka is survived by her children, Archie (Haley) Rush of Canadian Lakes, and Bartol Zaninovi of Croatia; beautiful grandchildren, Ella Rush and Marin Zaninovi her mother and father, Vesna and Kolja Miroevi brother Igor and Tea Miroevi and their children Ivo, Zita and Lav Miroevi sister Dainjela Miroevi aunt Ranka Jelisavac Vesna Rackovic; several extended Miroevi and Majer family members all at home in Croatia; special and dear friends who have become family over the years, Haleys mother and father Laura and John Jankowski and their children. Rajka will be missed by all who knew her. Rajka was preceeded in death by her loving spouse, Kim Rush, of several years. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Jeremy Wicks officiating from Big Rapids First United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends starting at 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Rajkas honor to Hospice House, whom we deeply appreciate.
