Rachel M. Myers, age 87 of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018. She was surrounded by her family at the Reed City Fields, a caring and loving facility in Reed City. Rachel was born on June 7, 1930 in Pike County, Indiana to Charles and Mabel (House) LeMond. At a young age, her family moved to Michigan. Rachel had four siblings; Ronald, Charles "Bud", Carey and Ruby. Rachel married the love of her life, Coy Myers, on June 19, 1948 in Detroit and they raised three children, Larry, Dena and Lorraine. She accepted a position as a Nurses Assistant and worked at the Garden City Hospital. Rachel and Coy moved to Big Rapids in 1972. Coy passed away, on their farm, in 1975 and Rachel spent her remaining years in Big Rapids. She continued her work as a Nurses Assistant at the Big Rapids Hospital retiring in 1995. She loved taking care of all the babies in the nursey. In the years of retirement she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and family, gardening and attending many activities in the area. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children. Rachel is survived by her children, Larry (Vivian) Myers of Belleville, Dena (Jim) Fetterley of Big Rapids, Lorraine Jordan of TX; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandkids; five great-great-grandkids; her brother, Carey (Janice) LeMond of TX; several nieces and nephews. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Coy, two brothers and one sister. Rachels family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Reed City Fields. In a few short months, they became the branches of strength in our family tree. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the staff of Spectrum Hospice for their guidance and care through this time. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the University Center at Ferris State University, 805 Campus drive, with Stephanie Waldron officiating.
