Phyllis A. Rowland, age 62, of Bitely, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006 at Mecosta County Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 17, 1943 to Claude and Sophie Keeton in East Chicago, Indiana. As a small child Phyllis moved to Kentucky with her family. She married Wendell Rowland on July 22, 1963. Together they lived in Ohio and Kentucky until 1966 when Phyllis and Wendell moved to Michigan. Phyllis went to work for Daimler Chrysler in Trenton and the family made their home in the Metro Detroit area. Following retirement they moved to Bitely. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Wendell of Bitely, Five Children: Darren (Wendy) Rowland of Flat Rock Doyle Rowland of Carleton, Teddy (Pebble) Rowland, of Flat Rock, Connie Owens of Garden City, Dolly (Les) Lucas of Bitely 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren 3 brothers, Lohman, Gene and Jack Keeton 2 sisters, Judy and Julie and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a son, Ferland Rowland, and 2 brothers, Lloyd and Earl. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 7th at the Redbush Enterprise Baptist Church, burial will follow at the Keeton Town Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday, April 6th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home. Local arrangements were entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
