Phillip Donald Weld, age 79, of Stanwood, Michigan, passed away suddenly on September 25, 2026.

Phil was born on April 11, 1947, to Charles H. Weld and Margaret M. (Cain) Weld. He was raised in Flint, Michigan, where he graduated from Hamady High School in 1965.

Phil proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving overseas until 1968. He later served in the United States Coast Guard, where he was detailed to the Secret Service to help protect President Jimmy Carter at Saint Simons Island, Georgia.

Throughout his working life, Phil held many different positions, including working at Fisher Body, a General Motors plant, Michigan Bell Telephone in Flint, Michigan, and General Telephone in Tampa, Florida. He eventually found his retirement career at the Internal Revenue Service, where he proudly worked for 30 years.

Phil made his home in Stanwood, Michigan, beginning in 1986. Before settling in Stanwood, he lived in Tampa, Florida, and grew up in Flint, Michigan. He also had the pleasure of traveling throughout the United States, enjoying trips from coast to coast.

Phil had many interests and accomplishments, but some of his happiest memories came from spending time with the people he loved. He enjoyed bowling with his son, Jason, and proudly earned many trophies and plaques over the years. Phil was always willing to lend a helping hand to others whenever he was needed. Most of all, he cherished his family and the time he spent with them.

Phil is survived by his son, Jason Weld and wife Morgan; daughter, Melanie Germain and husband Phil; granddaughters, Megan Parent and fiancé Bill Doran, Stephanie Hubbard and fiancé David Heidger, and Jessica Germain; nine great-grandchildren, Lillie, Jayce, Alexzander, Lyrik, Chevii, Nova, Korbin, Vincent, and Phoenixx; his brother, Gerald “Jerry” Weld; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him fondly.

Phil was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lena Weld; his parents, Charles H. Weld and Margaret M. (Cain) Weld; his brother, Robert C. Weld; and his sister, Frances A. (Weld) Dalziel.

Phil will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His willingness to help others, his love of family, and the memories he created with those around him will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
