Percy E. "Junior" Ward, age 61, of Chippewa Lake/Evart, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 29, 2013 with his family at his side. He was born on March 11, 1952 to Percy R. and Velma (Groh) Ward in St. Clair, MI. In 1970 Percy joined the US Army and served overseas during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He later went back to school and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1982. In 1985, Percy began his employment at Federal Screw Works in Big Rapids where he worked for 19 years. In his 30's and 40's he was an avid golfer and bowler, these days he looked forward to fishing and hunting. Percy enjoyed camping and working with his hands. He was always willing to help others and there to support family and friends. When able, Percy had been attending the First Baptist Church in Morley. Percy is survived by his wife Kathy (Appleby) Ward of Chippewa Lake; four children, Theresa Cole of Reed City, Linde Grossett of Alma, Jesse (Diane) Ward of Big Rapids, Latoya (Jason) Reuther of Cadillac and their mother Christine; two stepchildren, Jeremy Davis of Atlanta, GA and Patrick Davis of Chippewa Lake; 8 grandchildren; his beloved Appleby brothers-in-law that he was dedicated to helping and giving support too; 2 brothers, 5 sisters and numerous, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will continue to treasure the memories they hold. Percy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edmond and a sister Brenda. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Steve Finn officiating.
