Obituary

Paula Marie (Myers) Finney went to be with her parents and son on Saturday, January 10, 2026 with her family by her side. Paula was born on July 25, 1944 in Reed City, Michigan to Russell and Pauline (Argue) Myers. She lived most of life in the Barryton area. She was a 1962 graduate of Barryton Rural Agricultural School. Following her graduation, Paula married Gary Neil Finney, Sr. The couple lived in Lansing for a few years returning to their hometown of Barryton in 1971 where they have resided since.

Paula filled her days with raising three sons. As the boys grew older, Paula chose to pursue work outside the home spending many years at Evart Products. Over her years there she made many friends who fondly remember Paula for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. After her time at the Products, Paula took a job in Barryton as the manager of Hometown Grocery. As a long-time resident of Barrryton, she was a familiar face to its many customers. After retirement, Paula indulged in her greatest joys – her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and relaxing days spent camping at the lake in summer and for a few years, spending part of the winter in Florida.

Paula is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Gary Sr and her sons, Christopher and W. Todd, all of Barryton, daughter-in-law, Karen (David) Buzzie of National City and the joys of her life, her grandchildren, Andrew (Katrina Black) Finney, Rachel (Zack) Martinez, Alan (Samantha Edwards) Vincent, Jeremy (Holly) Wixon, TJ Finney and Jacob Irwin, her eleven great grandchildren and her first great-great grandchild arriving in February. Paula will also be deeply missed by her siblings – Marcia Burmeister of Clare, Kelli (Todd) Hickman of Marcellus, Jerrilynn (Bud) Strong of Barryton, Cheryl Forcia of Mt Pleasant, John (Deborah) Niedzielski of Remus, Mary (Joseph) Bechaz of Big Rapids, Wayne (Kathy) Brown of Allegan, brother-in-law John Abbott of Farwell and her many nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her son, Gary Jr, her parents, Russ and Helen Myers and Pauline and Howard Brown, her siblings, Linda Abbott, Jeff Niedzielski, Larry Myers and his wife, Nancy, brother-in-law, Otto Burmeister and nephews – John Abbott and Gary Myers.

Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Barryton. Services for Paula will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Barryton Church of God, 20244 30th Avenue, Barryton. Family will greet friends from noon until the service at 1:00 pm.
