Paul Kevin Horan, 58, lifelong resident of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, August 26, 2021.
He was born August 22, 1963, the son of Robert T. and Dolores Grace (Conley) Horan.
Paul was a member of St. Mary - St. Paul Catholic Church. He attended St. Mary Catholic School and then graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1981. After attending Ferris State University, he gave numerous presentations to students in the Automotive and Heavy Equipment Management Student Organization.
Paul held various managerial positions in the family business, Triangle Auto Sales, and attended dealer seminars. He was instructed on all phases of dealership management, as well as personnel, financial and customer relations. He was also employed at Fluid Routing Solutions and Meijer and made many friends at various car dealerships.
He was involved in the community and sports programs including Little League and the 1977 Championship Junior League "Benedict Jets" baseball teams. For many years, he participated in the Big Rapids Mens Softball Association, winning many championships. He had many special memories of the Triangle Auto Bowling Team. Paul had numerous friends that impacted his life including childhood friends, Jimmy Weipert and Jeff Joseph.
Paul is survived by his mother, Dolores Horan; son, Jordan Christopher Horan; three siblings, Robert III (Lynn) Horan, Marcia Schuberg and Maria (Bill) Stewart; former wife, Kristen Albachten Horan; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Joshua David Horan; his father, Robert T. Horan, Jr.; and brother, Thomas E. Horan.
Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 12:00 p.m. (noon), on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Jegar Fickel officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Due to COVID-19, the family asks that all who attend please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines. The Horan family will be greeting friends in the front pew at the church; although they would appreciate your hugs and handshakes, please refrain from those at this time. Your presence and words are what they need now.
Paul will always be remembered for his big heart, his kindness and generosity. He volunteered for numerous charities. Every Christmas, he purchased gifts for the homeless children at Our Brothers Keeper Homeless Shelter. The family requests no flowers, however, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Mecosta County Community Foundation (MCCF).
