Obituary

Paul E. Bittner, age 86 of Paris, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012. He was born December 21, 1925 on the farm in Green Township, the son of William and Christina (Thiel) Bittner. Paul was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged after serving during World War II. Paul married Betty Lou Ruppert on April 2, 1951 in Reed City. They made their home on the farm where Paul worked and lived his entire life. He is survived by five children, David Bittner of Corunna, Roger Bittner of Swartz Creek, Doran (Joyce) Bittner of Paris, Duane (Angie) Bittner of Paris, and Denise (Gerald) Napieralski of Dorr; 11 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren; a brother Lloyd Bittner of Tustin; two sisters-in-law, RuthAnn Ruppert of Florida, Doris Bittner of Reed City; several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty Lou (Ruppert) Bittner, an infant son Dale, young daughter Debbie; 5 brothers, Willard, Bernard, Alexander, Raymond and Lyle Bittner. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11th at the Reed City Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Chris DeMott officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, Feb. 10th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will also greet friends on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery in Reed City. Memorial contributions in Paul's name may be made to the Reed City Church of the Nazarene, Building Fund.
