Patrick H. Maxwell age 86, of Big Rapids passed away February 20, 2010 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. He was born on April 1, 1923 to Robert and Alfreda (MacDaniel) Maxwell in Hope Township, MI where he was raised. On June 26, 1943 he married Marcella Bailey in Hope Twp. Before moving to Big Rapids in 2000 he enjoyed farming and raising cattle in the Barryton and Chippewa Lake areas for 39 years. His dog Rex was a great protector of Patrick and brought joy to his life. Patrick is survived by five sons: Patrick H. (Marilyn) Maxwell Jr. of Canal Fulton, OH, Duane of Posen, MI, Eugene (Jan) of Midland, Randy (Sandy) of Rodney, Leon of Big Rapids, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, faithful companion Rex and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marcella in 1999, daughter-in-law Jeanette Maxwell, 2 grandchildren; Sheri and Patrick H. Maxwell III, 4 sisters, 2 brothers. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for early April at New Hope Twp. Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Daggett Funeral Home Inc., Barryton, Michigan. Mr. Maxwell and his family were appreciative for the care given to him by Dr. Scott VanderHill, the staff at Altercare and Mecosta County Medical Center.
