Pat R. McShane, age 77 of Canadian Lakes, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his home. He was born January 1, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of James and Eleanor (McClain) McShane. Pat was hard working and lived for his work. He owned and operated A & A Builders in the Big Rapids and Manistee areas for 50 years. Pat belonged to the Manistee Eagles and Manistee Elks. Pat was very proud of his Irish ancestry. Pat was known for his Donald Duck impressions. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and host cook outs. Pat and his wife enjoyed traveling north. He is survived by his wife Joyce of Canadian Lakes; his children, Debra (Mark) Lake of Morley, Michael (Kathleen) McShane of St. Clair Shores, Mark (Melody) McShane of Petoskey and Mathew (Lavone) McShane of Manistee; his step-children, Robert Carlile of Big Rapids, James (Linda) Spring of Stanwood and Kimberly Lewis of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; Marylynn Withers and family; and many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Patrick McShane Jr.; his late wife, Patricia McShane; 3 brothers, James, Jack and Michael McShane. A memorial service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17th at the Stanwood Eagles with Pastor Bobbi Cabot officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan in Big Rapids.
